It is somewhat a tradition at least in finnish weddings, that at some point the bride is stolen by bridesmaids, bestman, etc. and the groom has to do some deed (write a poem, answer tricky questions, sing a song...) to get her back. These days there have been some twists to this tradition and in these weddings the groom was stolen and the bride had to write a poem (she got him back unharmed).
