Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at Eastern State Penitentiary in Pennsylvania. The lighting turned out perfect for the creepy shot I wanted.Time
This photo was taken in the middle of the day, but the lighting in the prison is not extremely bright, so one cannot tell the time of day easily. This was taken on a self tour through the prison with my son for one of our tourist activities.Lighting
The lighting in the prison is not very bright, so it gives off an eerie feeling throughout the entire building. The light coming in from the skylights gave just enough lighting to not have to use a flash.Equipment
This was shot with a 35mm film Canon camera. No tripods or flash used.Inspiration
I am always attempting to look for a different type of photo to take, and knowing this prison is haunted, I wanted to try to catch the atmosphere of that feeling. The blurred out people at the end of the hallway almost look as if there is a ghost peeking or walking by. The lighting was perfect for the feeling I was trying to catch.Editing
I believe there were people in the middle of the hallway that was taken out of the picture. In my camera bag
I currently use a Nikon digital camera with an 18mm - 400mm lens. I have a number of differently lenses I use, and I have a few filters. Other than that, I have a carrier in my bag.Feedback
Take lots of pictures! Use different settings in the same area to try to get the photo you want. Keep practicing and working on honing your skills. Nobody is perfect, it takes practice and a love for what you are doing.
