Behind The Lens
Location
This was an in home. Newborn session with a young mother and her firstborn child. She happened to be the daughter-in-law of a close friend so I offered the photo shoot as a gift. The mother had specific props and poses in mind for the baby however this was an impromptu moment while getting ready. The lighting was perfect and I couldn’t resist taking the shot. It has become one of my favorites.Time

Natural light always seems the best for newborns. The freshness and soft light from the window seemed to highlight mom’s beauty as well as well as lighting the baby’s full face.Equipment

Normally I use a Sony mirrorless, and carry my 24-70mm, 24mm and 70-200mm lenses. Sometimes I’ll bring a folding reflector and an external light. But often find it is not needed if I have windows in the room. .Feedback
The poses for newborns are so many and can be simple or elaborate. However the best ones tell a story. So be sure to focus on the people and not so much on the props.
