Location
I had set up a photo shoot in Land O' Lakes at the Polytechnical University with 5 other members of the Chasco Camera Club.Time
We arrived early in the A.M. hours and proceeded to roam the campus for the greatest opportunities. This shot was taken around 10 O'Clock on one of the side promenades.Lighting
The day was cloudy and overcast which made lighting difficult so I decided to solarize the image and this was the end results.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D750 and used the following settings: Exposure: 1/320 sec F Number: F 6.3 Max Aperture: F 2.83 ISO Speed ratings: ISO 100 Focal Length: 24 mm 35mm Equivalent: 24 mm Metering Mode: SpotInspiration
I loved the aesthetics of the location and all the nuances the location provided, so I captured as many views as possible. This was one that struck me as special.Editing
Once I started to process the photo it didn't seem to be causing any huge interest, so while in Photoshop I tried the Solarize settings and it perked my interest. Using layers I removed the solarized areas of the windows, leaving them as originally taken. then used the sharpening tool in NIK Tools to bring out the edges further. I upped the contrast a bit to make the colors pop.In my camera bag
Due to the versatility of my interests I have the Nikon D7100, D5200 & the D750. My lenses go from the Tamron 500mm to a Quandry 24mm for macro's. My favorite filters are my Cokin ND's and I use the Nikon SB-700 flash. My normal goto lens is the Tamron 24-70 F 2.8G or my Tamron 70-200mm F 2.8.Feedback
I started out shooting Nature and excelled at it, but shoot what interests you. Diverse yourself into different subjects (nature, architecture, people, etc.) until you find your niche. Focus on that, but shoot other subjects to keep your juices going. Otherwise you could burn yourself out on your specialty and become lost or despondent.
