Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Whiteriver State Park in Indianapolis, IN. It was a part of a family photo session.

Time

It was a beautiful August summer early evening! These sisters were in the best of moods, ready to pose!

Lighting

I used the natural light from the golden hour! Using natural light is always my first choice!

Equipment

For this photograph I used my very first camera, a Nikon D5300 with the kit lens, 18-55mm. I took so many awesome photos of these girls with that camera!

Inspiration

I am one of 5 sisters so I wanted to capture the closeness of sisterhood in this photo and how, no matter what, you can always count on your sister to be a source of strength and comfort!

Editing

No, not for this particular photograph.

In my camera bag

I normally have a prime lens, a zoom lens, a speedlight, which is an absolute must have for me! I also keep two camera bodies and extra batteries, especially for a lengthy shoot.

Feedback

Be patient! Especially with capturing children. Keep it fun and exciting! Also, be willing to take advice and constructive criticism from other photographers. I've grown so much as a photographer since taking this photo, mainly by learning from others.
