Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the terrace of the building where I live. Access to the terrace is limited and I borrowed the keys from a neighbor to gain access, with the excuse that it was for a photography course that I was taking. (As of today, I have not had the opportunity to take a photography course :(, but my neighbor believed me :)). The burning city is La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Time

It was at night. My goal was to take a photo of the moon, but when I saw the city lights and the sky with choppy clouds and many cracks, I had the need to preserve this instant of reality.

Lighting

I wanted the image create the impression that the sky was cooking on the fathoms, like when something is cooking on a grill. Also, I wanted the photo to show some perspective and was interested in capturing the lights of the city. That is why, I decided that the photo should have a warm tone. At the same time, and since the moonlight gave a sensation of spiral movement, I tried to increase the light in that area, so as not to lose this effect.

Equipment

Nikon Coolpix L840

Inspiration

At that time, I was in love with a person with whom I shared a taste for photography and for contemplating the landscape of the city from the terraces. From my terrace, we always looked at the flame of the petrochemicals located near the city, and we used to said that it was burning the sky ... that's why I thought that the city was "cooking" the sky.

Editing

Yes! I use Photoscape software to edit the photo. I increased the lighting, lowered exposure and increased temperature with that soft.

In my camera bag

A Nikon Coolpix S33 and my LG-K10 cell phone. =)

Feedback

When you see an image that dazzles you, that captures your attention and makes you not perceive the passage of time at that moment, it is time to take a photo.
