Location
This photo was taken at my in-laws' ranch in Central Texas. This little pond sits toward the side of the property and is near Navarro Mills Lake and Wolf Creek. My husband and I started dating as teenagers and have spent many days here fishing, playing paintball, and spending time with family, so it is a very special place to us.Time
It was early in the spring, on March 25, 2017, at 7:20pm Chicago Time.Lighting
All of the lighting in the photo is 100% natural! It was that "Magic Hour" as the sun was just beginning to go down, and it lit the trees and reflected them in the water just perfectly.Equipment
This was taken with the cell phone that I had at the time: LGE Nexus 5X (ƒ/2, 1/323, 4.67mm, ISO60).Inspiration
This particular evening, we had been out fishing with the kids all afternoon, and of course I was documenting all of the special moments. We were marveling at the Canadian geese who had made a home there- They had built a nest on the little island you see there on the left (the goslings hatched later)! I had snapped a couple of shots of Mama Goose, and then realized how beautifully the sun rested on the trees and grass with the perfect reflection in the water, so I of course had to capture it.Editing
I did not do any further processing for this photo. In my camera bag
I used a LGE Nexus 5G phone for the photo. I currently have a Google Pixel 3 XL phone that I use for all of my pictures- It's always on me, and makes it easy to store and share photos when I am always on the go! I have not been able to afford a more expensive camera in awhile or had the opportunity to learn how to use a professional one, but I am hoping to get there soon!Feedback
This was a warm, clear day in the low 70s (Fahrenheit) with little wind or cloud cover. The sun was about 135 degrees to the right and behind me to make the angle of light and reflection just so.
