This photo was taken in the afternoon during a game drive through Samburu National Park in Kenya, AfricaTime
We had been on a game drive in the morning, stopped for lunch, and went on an afternoon game drive in a different part of the park. We were beginning our return to the lodge around 5:30. The sun was starting to set when we spotted this young leopard in a tree. The setting was perfect, sun at my back, and afternoon light.Lighting
As I stated, the sun was at my back and setting. A soft light that was bright enough to bring out the best features of the leopard.Equipment
The photo was shot with a Nikon D7200 with a Nikon 150x600 telephoto zoom lens from the roof of a Toyota Land Cruiser.Inspiration
The wildlife of Africa was our goal when we booked a photography safari through Kenya and Tanzania. We had seen a plethora of animals running wild and this beautiful leopard capped our day.Editing
Everything was so perfect the only thing I did was enhance the contrast. In my camera bag
I normally carry just the D7200 with a Tamron 16x300 macro telephoto zoom lens. And of course a tripod.Feedback
Any chance to go on a photography safari would be incredibly inspiring for anyone who appreciates nature and wildlife. 17 days in the African bush provided ample opportunities to see basically all the different kinds of animals available.
