This photo was taken about a kilometre from where I live. My husband and I will go for drives and I get him to stop when I see a photo opportunity. We were just about to head home when I spotted this fox. I yelled at hubby to slow down and try and get closer without scaring it away. Where I live you see many a fox at any time of the day. He was able to creep up right beside the fox and stopped. I had my camera already ready! I believe it was a female and was limping and trying to get us away from her kit/kits. It was a beautiful moment and I have this photo to remind me of it!Time
I believe it was mid afternoon and I was quite surprised to see it. Usually we see them either early mornings on my drive to work or late in the evening.Lighting
Made sure that the sun wasn't behind the fox so that it wouldn't ruin the image I was trying to capture. This was taken several years ago and I will still getting use to the new camera hubby had bought me for Christmas. I believe I was still shooting in auto mode when this was taken.Equipment
This picture was shot with my Nikon D3200. I did zoom in a bit but the fox was really close to the truck. I switched lenses and used my Nikon 55-300 mm lens for this shot. No flash or tripod was used, just propped my hand under the lens and started clicking shots.Inspiration
I'm always trying to get close ups of nature around here and was in the right spot at the right time. And this was my first opportunity to be able to get a good close up of a fox. I think it was enjoying the spotlight and wasn't too afraid of us.Editing
I'm still self teaching on how to do post processing. My photos are taken in RAW format and I usually brighten up the colours a bit (if needed) but only to match what I saw with my eyes and then if it's blurry I try to sharpen the image a bit. This was taken a couple of years ago and it's still one of my favourites. In my camera bag
I only have 2 lenses in my bag, my Nikon 55-300 mm and my 18-55mm, several HD cards in case I run out of space on my current one and of course my extra battery and my charger.Feedback
Know where you are going, know what's around you and have a lot of patience. Try to get into the habit of always carrying your camera with you in case you get that special opportunity to catch some amazing wildlife.
