My wife and I spent a wonderful week in Quebec City and Montreal last month. On the last day we went to XO at the St James Hotel in Montreal. I ordered the carrot soup and when it arrived I wondered if it could ever taste as good as it looked. I had to capture it into a memory. I can say it tasted splendid! It's now up to the judges as to whether it looks as good as it tastes. Thanks for voting me as a finalist.Time
Dinner timeLighting
The light was challenging, very dark room.Equipment
Although I have other equipment ( Nikon and Canon), because I hadn't been our of the country in a while I went very light, jut using my iPhone 10xs. That didn't stop me from shooting as I shot over 600 pictures in the week.Inspiration
When it was served I couldn't resist capturing it's presentation.Editing
Yes, because of the dark room I needed to balance the shadows and highlights and touch up the exposure. I also brought the bowl itself into the primary focus and added a little more blur to the place setting. In my camera bag
Normally much more than I packed for the trip. I have two pretty good size camera bags filled with lenses and filters. I left it all at home this trip.Feedback
Just take the shot. Fill up the space in the area with what you want to show. Shoot even if the lighting isn't exactly the way you like, especially when capturing a moment in time versus an actually planned shoot.
