Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Lissabon (Portugal) near Rua do Arsenal

Time

It was around midnight after visting the nearby Alfama Quarter with its Fado-Restaurants

Lighting

The light is the main thing that made this picture special. It was a rainy night and not many people around but the lights and the wet glow of the streets gave it a mystical touch. The second important element of course, are the railways that lead you in the middle of lissabon to a bar calles Copenhagen which is funny... For me it was imortant to keep the light as natural as possible and still show the details which I managed by playing with ISO, speed and AF

Equipment

My Nikon D7100, no tripod, no flash

Inspiration

The light, the rails and of course the atmosphere of this corner

Editing

Not much really, a little sharpening and lightning up with photoshop

In my camera bag

camera, 18-300 Tamron for all situationes and sometimes a macro lens; I hate flash and use it as seldom as possible, if I have a special plan on night photograph it is possible, I take a stative but also very rarely

Feedback

Try to see everything that is in the picture, the houses, the atmosphere, the lines, the LIGHT AND THE SHADOWS and then use a high ISO value and a low shutter speed (30-50) and try AF with the manual button until you are satisfied-
