Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary on High Island in Texas has a rookery, sort of a nursery for birds. The birds breed here, and they nest in the trees and on the platforms that have been built for them. Dawn here is magical, because the sun rises opposite the viewing platforms, back-lighting all the birds and making them look like ghosts, or angels.
