The beauty of a sunrise and moon in the foreground. What a way to start the day.

Location
The photo was taken at Avoca Beach in Australia. An amazing location for sunrises photographers and surfers alike.Time
I only recently took this photo using my trusty old Nikon 5200 at my favorite beach for the magic sunrise that it was. As us photographers do, I use the 'six second rule'. I have six seconds to get my gear ready and take the shot before it disappears before your eyes. My camera never leaves my side for that reason.Lighting
The lighting shows many depths in the photo, making it such a special piece.Equipment
Used my Nikon D5200 using my 300mm lens. No tripod used, just my trusty old knee to stability.Inspiration
I am inspired by the professional photographers on ViewBug and their eye for great photographs of sunrises and sunsets. Living so close to the beach I like to use a morning sunrise where the sky is generally filled with some clouds for better effect. The moon in the background adds additional character to the shot. Just a lucky morning to have the moon available.Editing
I utilized the 'sunrise' option in this case as it gave me the colors I was seeking. Slight adjustment was done to the contrast and light. In my camera bag
My camera bag consists of my Nikon D5200. Several batteries, 3 lenses, numerous filters and the standard cleaning equipment.Feedback
Photographic excellence is in the eye of the beholder. Find that special location where you know you can produce something special when the conditions are just right. A degree of luck when dealing with the weather comes into play. Never have the view that you can't improve on your deemed excellence. Be patient and make yourself available. I like to think I can see the finished product before it is even taken. Again the six second rule I stand by enable me to get those special shots. It's having the pre-vision and constantly eyeing off potential photographs.
