Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo from part of the public access Cable Bay Walkway that traverses Private Property overlooking Cable Bay in the Nelson area of New Zealand. The farmer was grazing sheep and cattle which roam freely.

Time

This photo was taken about noon after climbing the hill to get and 360 degree view and land and sea.

Lighting

It was taken in full midday sun. I didn’t spot the love heart shaped cloud until I got home and looked through my photos so it was a nice surprise.

Equipment

I used an iPhone 8 Plus and an add on Moment Wide 18mm lens.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo as the scenery was amazing and worth it after the hike up to the top ,the smell of sheep poo and fresh sea air. The tide was out so high lined the boulder bank separating the sea from the inlet.

Editing

The photo is pretty much straight out of the camera with some minor adjustments to the highlights and exposure.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Moment 18mm Wide angle add on lens and a Moment Portrait lens. I also carry a polarising filter with can be attached to the Moment lenses. I also have a Joby mini tripod but for this shot, it was hand held.

Feedback

Take time to enjoy your surroundings before you take a photo. It will hopefully lead you to a composition that has something special in it.
