My home state of Pennsylvania offers some great wilderness areas. Onondaga Falls is in a state park called Ricketts Glen in central PA. The park consists of 2 gorges that contain 24 named waterfalls. It's a loop trail of about 7 miles. It's difficult hiking, due to the steep drop in elevation, but well worth the trip.

Just stay away from Philadelphia LOL,,,, No, the applachian and allegheny mountain ranges are older mountains than the Rockies and less dramatic, but they offer an abundance of gorgeous scenes like this.
