I took this photo at my home on the edge of my terrace on the 6th floor.Time
It was around 8 o'clock and the sun was just starting to set on an April day.Lighting
I didn't use any lighting except the natural light coming from the sunset. No flash, obviously.Equipment
I used my now regular D7200 paired with my Tamron AF-S 70-300mm VC f/4-5.6 Di LD AF. I shot handheld.Inspiration
I wasn't planning on taking this photo. I was working on some things at my desk and looked out the window and noticed this beautiful sunset and the colors on the clouds were amazing. I knew I had to capture them somehow. Unfortunately, the view from my place isn't amazing and it couldn't do this sunset justice. So I quickly decided to use a Lego Beetle I have as a subject and use the amazing colors in the sky as a backdrop for it.Editing
I just boosted the contrast a bit and lightened the shadows to show a bit more detail in the car. Not much was needed as the colors were beautiful on their own.In my camera bag
I'm still relatively a beginner so there's not very much. I have upgraded to a D7200, which is my main camera now, paired with a Sigma 17-50 f:2.8. This is what I take with me always. I've recently got the Tamron AF-S 70-300mm VC f/4-5.6 Di LD AF to replace my Tamron 70-300 f1:4-5.6 macro. The old one did now have image stabilisation. I also use a Nikon 35mm 1.8. Other things include some ND filters, a wireless trigger, extra batteries and cleaning gear.Feedback
Seeing as I didn't really plan this out, the only advice I can give is always be on the look out for the next photo. It also helps to have a camera handy.
