To be able to get a good shot of a snowflake, it takes the correct lighting. I use a small LED light behind the snowflake and a larger lantern like light on either side of the flake. Also I have it pointed out towards the natural light.Equipment

Snowflakes can not be shot unless the temperature is 28 degrees Fahrenheit or below. The lighting is the most important thing. 15 mins outside is the max time, then bring the camera inside wait for 20-30 mins for your camera to warm up, then you can take it back out
