Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Hubbard, Oh 44425. It was taken outside in my garage.

Time

it was taken early eviging

Lighting

To be able to get a good shot of a snowflake, it takes the correct lighting. I use a small LED light behind the snowflake and a larger lantern like light on either side of the flake. Also I have it pointed out towards the natural light.

Equipment

Canon sx160 A special designed lens adapted to fit my camera. A platform designed to hold microscope lens and my camera

Inspiration

To be able to get a photo of one single snow!

Editing

I did adjust the contrast in photoshop

In my camera bag

Gorillapod, extra batteries, flashlight, lens, hand warmers

Feedback

Snowflakes can not be shot unless the temperature is 28 degrees Fahrenheit or below. The lighting is the most important thing. 15 mins outside is the max time, then bring the camera inside wait for 20-30 mins for your camera to warm up, then you can take it back out
