This Photo was taken on the Iconic London Tower Bridge.Time
This was taken on the 6th March at 21:27Lighting
Long Exposure Photography is a little guilty pleasure of mine and obviously lighting plays a very big factor in a long exposure and in particular when capturing Light Trails. So for this particular shot it was more a matter of waiting for that right moment before clicking that shutter as I wanted to get Light Trails from two double decker buses to provide the higher Light Trails and add a little more drama to the image.Equipment
The Equipment I used for this image is as follows: My Canon 80D, along with my Canon EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and finally my Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB 100 Tripod.Inspiration
We were in London for a few days celebrating my Birthday and I had earmarked a few shots in various locations in London. When we got to Tower Bridge (My Girlfriend Alex) had asked if I'd ever seen the bridge open, to which I had replied no, a very quick Google and we noticed the bridge was actually opening that evening twice to allow a boat through. Talk about right place right time, so with that in mind we opted to stay in the area so I could take a few shots of the Bridge opening from a spot along The Queens Walk. We decided to have dinner nearby and after dinner I set the camera up to capture the shots I wanted, as we were walking back to the station I took a few more shots and we looked at the time and it was getting closer to when the bridge was opening again for the boat to pass through, so we decided to make our way across the bridge and see it open at another angle, Alex decided to stop at an area so she could film the boat going through, I then got a brain wave to go and set up the camera to capture this Long Exposure as the traffic had been stopped whilst the Bridge was open it was a perfect opportunity to get right in the middle of the road and set up, shortly after it reopened I then waited out for that perfect moment I was after to get my desired shot.Editing
I always shoot RAW and always Post Process my images in Adobe Lightroom's I have a few select Presets that I have developed over the 16 months that I have been shooting and editing, all I had to do with this image was apply one of my custom Presets and adjust the sliders ever so slightly until I got my desired outcome. In my camera bag
This depends on what my intended shoot/shots are but 9 times out of 10 I'll have my Canon 80D, Canon EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, Canon EF50mm f/1.8 STM and last and not least my 'Go To Lens' the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM as well as my Hoya Filters, Remote Trigger and Spare Batteries and SD Cards.Feedback
My advice would be to test originally on a local road or subject and play around with shutter speeds and aperture etc until you get that desired look you're after. Once you're happy make a mental note of those settings, so that when you do get to your desired location you already know what you need to dial in, take a handful of test shots and make any adjustments accordingly then just wait it out for that perfect moment and never ever be afraid to step out your comfort zone and try something a little different.
