Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taking during a 2007 workshop with Kim Weston at the Weston home in Carmel, California.

Time

Early afternoon on a sunny day. Model Tiffany is at an outdoor sink. Notice the mask above her right arm.

Lighting

Dappled sunlight through the trellis adds interest to the pose.

Equipment

Olympus E-300 digital camera, hand held.

Inspiration

The model, the weather, the lighting, the venue all contributed to making the photograph. The Weston home itself, located above the Pacific Ocean in one of the most picturesque locations on the Central California coast is inspiration enough.

Editing

Cropped to emphasize upper torso and face. I also used Surface Blur and Emboss commands in Photoshop to smooth the skin.

In my camera bag

Now I have only two digital cameras; Panasonic Lumix GF3 and Fujifilm A3-X with normal lenses. The Lumix also has a 45-200 zoom lens. I carry no other equipment.

Feedback

For outdoor portraits or figure studies it's location, location, location, And of course having the right model.
