Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during WPPI 2019 in Las Vegas, NV.

Time

This was taken in the afternoon, either 2 or 3pm.

Lighting

Honestly, I can’t really take credit for the lighting here. This shot was a luck shot based on a lighting test setup during an expo. I had nothing to do with lighting, but I will admit, the U-Shaped reflector was REALLY cool.

Equipment

This was taken on my Canon, with the 45mm lens that I had bought less than an hour before this shot.

Inspiration

The “u-shaped” reflector you can see lighting the bottom half of her eyes.

Editing

Minimal amounts of Post. Skin smoothing, enhancing saturation.

In my camera bag

I am currently using a Canon T7i. I have 3 standard lenses that I use: Canon 18-135mm, Canon 55-250mm, and my newest, Tamron 45mm.

Feedback

Personally, the way I believe I shoot is 10% skill, 85% luck, and 5% post. Knowing what you’re doing is only part of making a good photo and tweaking it should be the last thing on your mind.
