This photo was taken the in the front of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. I am very much self taught, having done some introductory photograhy courses and taking advantage of as much information I can gather of on-line tutorials. I am gradually improving my knowledge and skills through much practice and enjoying my love of photography.Time
This is a favourite memory of my visit to Paris. The weather was beautiful and warm for the extent of our stay and allowed me to capture this photo at around lunch time during the day when crowds were quite busy in the front of the cathedral.Lighting
I took the photo to capture the beauty and intricacies in the architecture of this wonderful building and its attraction for people from around the world.Equipment
When I took this photo I was using my Canon 5D MarkII camera. The shot was taken hand held, along with many others in the local vicinity capturing the many aspects to the cathedral.Inspiration
The Notre Dame cathedral is such an icon to tourists and visitors from across the world. I wanted a lasting memory of our visit to this magical city of Paris.Editing
I have done limited processing the this photo in Lightroom. A degree of cropping and transforming to ensuring the vertical nature of the building is portrayed. Basic adjustments to bring out clarity and contrast also completed. In my camera bag
I am not a person to carry a lot of gear in my camera bag when on a vacation like this, where you are doing a lot of sight seeing and capturing points of interest and beauty. Love my new Canon 5D Mark IV and tend to rely on my 24-70mm lens for general purposes. Also have a 16-35mm and 70-200mm which I love to have with me when I am alone and able to devote more time to my photography captures.Feedback
I do like to capture brilliant architecture in my travels. My aim is to take advantage of what is on offer and have the potential to crop and manipulate my photo in post processing to bring out the best aspects of the shot. In a busy tourist destination like the Notre Dame you are always going to have to deal with large crowds, but this can add to the flavour of the shot also. I do like to take advantage of different angles to try and encapsulate the best perspective of what you are photographing.
