Location
I took this photo at a lake not far from where I live. We drove there specifically to take photos but never intended to use the car and the empty field in the background. We came for the lake photos, deleted all lake photos and kept the car photos.Time
Sunset in summer. Probably around 8pm.Lighting
This was a very spontaneous photo. We had no lightning setup or anything. Just the camera and the car.Equipment
I only used my Canon EOS 5Dsr and a 50mm lens. No tripod, no flash, no help. It was a very simple shot and I didn't even plan it.Inspiration
We were taking photos of the lake and it was one of these shoots where I knew I am not keeping any of the photos. We were about to drive home and Lisa had the idea to just shoot some portraits in and around the car. I am glad we did as this is one of my favorite photos ever.Editing
I only edited the colors a little bit with Lightroom. I am not very good at photoshop and this photo just looked good without much post work anyway. In my camera bag
I always only take my camera and one lens with me. I am not professional and I don't like "looking professional". I don't like carrying a lot of gear and big backpacks. I just have my camera in my hand and that is it.Feedback
I think this photo inspired me to use glass more often. I love how the light interacts with the dirty car window. I also learned that it is very hard to plan a good photo as this is not the only case where the spontaneous photo is the best. I often go to locations where I want to take photos and the photos I didn't plan almost always are the best.
