Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while I was living in San Diego by the water in La Jolla.

Time

I took this photo one day when my husband and I went to the shore at La Jolla to see the sunset. We would go there each evening to watch the sun go down over the water. This was a particularly beautiful sunset, and this was probably the best of all the pictures that I took that day.

Lighting

The natural light from the setting sun was all I needed for this shot.

Equipment

I took this photo with a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Aperture: 40/10; Shutter: 1/80; Focal length: 6000/s1000.

Inspiration

The sunsets over the water in La Jolla are often magnificent. So my husband and I would go each day that we lived in San Diego to the beach at La Jolla to see the sunset and take photos of it. This night was an especially gorgeous sunset, which shows in this photo.

Editing

I usually do a lot of work in Photoshop before I am happy with a particular photo. However, this photo had it's own magnificence and didn't need any post-processing.

In my camera bag

I have gone from carrying lenses with me when I shoot to traveling only with a small digital camera. I then work on each photo in Photoshop until it is perfect.

Feedback

Sunsets vary a lot. I'd say just go out and shoot many sunsets over water or not until you've come back with something special.
