This photo was taken in Venice, Italy in early March 2019.

Time

I took this around 11:00 am on an overcast day.

Lighting

I wanted to capture the green gray color of the water in the Grand Canal. There’s something about the density of the water that I find very mysterious. I also wanted to show the the front part of the gondolas called the bow iron pointing towards the ghosted image in the fog of the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Salute in the background.

Equipment

I almost only use my IPhone 7 Plus to take my images. I rarely need to shoot large images because most of my work is used for handmade greeting cards.

Inspiration

I live in Italy and have the privilege of visiting many beautiful places in this country. If one can visit Venice in the off tourist season I can only say that it is a romantic, moody and magical place with ancient buildings vanishing into a mysterious fog.
