Location
This is taken outside a tiny fishing village, Kuvauen, on the island Vesterøy, Hvaler in south-east Norway.Time
It’s taken on Christmas day 2018 at 2:39PM. The sun sets early in winter, around 3:15PM, so you need to go out and shoot sunsets before dinner.Lighting
I did not use any external light source other than the sun. But I need to think about what time of the year to shoot different objects. Because we have more than 90 degrees difference to where the sun sets in winter and summer. And this shot works best in winter.Equipment
I used my iPhone X with tripod.Inspiration
I live close by and wanted to get a nice sunset photo with these small cabinsEditing
When I take photos with my iPhone, I always use the camera in the Lightroom mobile app. I shoot in DNG file format and in HDR mode, and edit the photos in the Lightroom mobile app. Mostly I open the shadows and lower the highlights. In my camera bag
My iPhone I put in my pocket and is always with me. In my bag, if I bring it, I have two Nikon dslr. My oldest camera is a D7000 with a Sigma 10-20mm f4. My newest is a D750 with a 24-70mm f2.8. And I bring two tripods. One for the Nikons and one for the iPhone.Feedback
As I mentioned above, be beware about the time of year you plan to shoot. Maybe come back later in the year to get the sunset at the right position. And look at the weather forcast. Blue skies are nice for the eyes, but boring and with little dynamics for photos. Just get out as often you can and good photos will follow.
