Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a small town of Liepaja - Latvia. That's nearby the Baltic sea. Still lots of wooden architecture left in a old town till nowadays. Some part of it have been restored, but another left to it's worst destiny.

Time

This was very bright and sunny afternoon.

Lighting

Natural afternoon sunlight giving contrasty shadows.

Equipment

This was shot on Fuji Superia 400 film at box speed. Asahi Pentax Mx film camera with 1.4/50mm lens. Natural sunlight.

Inspiration

O saw these curls and was thinking of how many years this paint was grilling in that sun.

Editing

Pentax has very sharp glass that you don't need much sharpening after scanning the negative. No other processing have taken the place.

In my camera bag

Time to time I shoot with different film cameras from my collection. Some favourites are Asahi Pentax Mx, Praktica Mtl 5, Praktica Bx20, Olympus om 30, also Soviet Fed 3 and Zenit 11. For Medium format film I use Kiev 60 and Moskva 4 cameras. Mainly use 50mm prime lenses. Very rarely shoot wide angle. Few colour film stocks I shoot are Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Ektar 100, Kodak Gold, Kodak Ultramax, Fuji Superia iso 200/400/1600, Agfa Vista 200. For black and white I use Ilford HP5, Ilford Fp4, Ilford Delta 100/400, Kodak Tmax 100/400 and Fomapan 100. There is no specific planning for these combinations. I just choose one camera for the day and load it with what's around.

Feedback

Just get close enough for that detail.
