Location
This photo was taken at the western base of Picacho Peak, at Picacho Peak State Park, north of Tucson ArizonaTime
This photo was just one of almost 100 shots taken during the sunset on a mid February day. We had hiked to the top of Picacho Peak earlier, and had to quickly climb back down to the base to catch the sunset from the western side of the peak.Lighting
There was no special lighting used, just mother nature at her finest moments.Equipment
The camera I used was a Canon Rebel T6, equipped with a 75-300mm telephoto lens with image stabilizer. I did not have a tripod on hand at the time, and due to the fading light, I helped steady the camera on a rock outcrop.Inspiration
The sunsets of the Arizona high desert are spectacular! I've captured many over the years while vacationing there during the winters. This particular sunset was probably the most intense, colorful sunset I've ever witnessed!Editing
There was absolutely no post-processing done to this photo. It is the raw image as shot.In my camera bag
Canon Rebel T6 Camera; Canon EFS 18-55mm lens with image stabilizer; Canon EFS 55-250mm lens with image stabilizer; Canon EF 75-300mm lens with image stabilizer.Feedback
My only advise is patience and diligence! In order to catch a dramatic, surreal sunset like this, hundreds if not thousands of photos have to be shot! And countless sunsets have to be viewed and photographed at the right time, the right location and in the right weather conditions. The bulk of the most spectacular sunsets I have witnessed and shot have been in Arizona.
