Location
The photo was taken at The Hacienda in Hanbury Street in East London. The Hacienda is a unique location as it is used as a home as well as a studio. The property used to be part of an old warehouse and what can't be seen on the left is an old lift shaft which is no longer working.Time
This image was taken on the 23rd March 2018 at 4.30pm.Lighting
There is a large window facing the model and this natural light was used for this particular shot. The light was starting to fade a little so turned the Iso up to 800.Equipment
This was shot handheld on a Fujifilm XT1 with an 18mm-55mm lens at f4.0, 1/160 second at Iso 800.Inspiration
I loved the soft furnishings in this bedroom. It had a silver headboard with a stars and stripes cushion which can be seen on the right side of the image. It also has a brick wall on the right which was left how it was originally.Editing
I use Adobe lightroom and Portrait pro to process my images. The lighting, exposure, shadows and saturation were done in lightroom. I then used a plug in called Portrait pro. Here I retouched and smoothed the skin and brightened the iris on the eyes.In my camera bag
I now use the Fujifilm XT1 mirrorless system with my trusted 18mm-55mm lens. Fujifilm lenses are very sharp and although it's not a prime lens the results are amazing. I also take my Godox TT350 speed lite and extra batteries for the camera.Feedback
My advice for someone shooting indoor portraits is always come well prepared with some lighting. I have got away with using natural light in some of my images but it's always good practice to have a speed lite and a flash modifier like a softbox for diffusing the light. I also recommend purchasing post processing software. Lightroom is a favorite of mine but I also use Luminar 3 which does a lot and can tweak your images that bit further. The most important thing is to have fun and take lots of images.
