Faster then a speeding bullet, as we were getting ready to call it a night we hear the sound of an oncoming train....... a train that does not normally run this late at night in the area, we look up and see the polar express returning from its trip up north and scrambling we run trackside to set up... with seconds to get ready the engine passes then the car, and the next. Looking back and I got it. I got the shot I had quickly visited with the bridge and all... what a rush

This photo was taken along side the old train tracks in my home town of Sacramento Ca. During the annual polar express run.Time
This photo was taken the late evening's of December, we had planned on catching some light trails, but had no idea that the trains were running after 11 p.m. that evening. We were all getting cold and tired so had just called it a night and started loading up our gear in the cars when we heard the trains horn blaring down the tracks, we scrambled to get our cameras back out and set up a composition in literal seconds. I was able to pull 3 off the shots, and this one quickly became my absolute favorite.Lighting
Lighting is a key essential with anything, it creates shadows or removes them completely. If creating an image at night like I do mostly, never be afraid of under exposure and light painting in my opinion. Nothing is ever perfect until you see it on your LCD screen and it stops you with that "yep, that's the one" moment. So always always play with lighting and never be afraid of the experienceEquipment
Canon 5dmk iv Iso/320 13" second exposure Sigma 24mm F/16Inspiration
There was honestly no real inspiration behind this image, it was a matter of last second chance and pure luck for me that nightEditing
I mostly use Light Room when doing post work with any image, I tend to under expose my images so that I am able to play with shadows and highlights in order to make an image really pop, this process works well for me being I capture a lot of night images. It is always a different routine with every image though, because every situation the lighting is never going to be the same.In my camera bag
In my bag I always have my canon 5dmk iv and sigma 24mm and a small pouch of random filters because I mostly capture night images so I like the wide angle option. Every now and again i will have my irix 15mm with me just in case.Feedback
There is inspiring images all over social media these days, I believe they should be inspiring 100% but should not be copied 100%. if you see something be creative and do a little research on the area so you can get creative on your own composition.
