Designed by a local young man in the area and built by the community and holds pride of place in the town. The design is a salute to the boat building industry in the district and many a tourist stop here and eventually take a walk through the town spending much more than just a penny. It has become a popular trend in NZ tourist towns and many are quite unique and beautifully fitted out on the inside. I think a little competition exists between towns for the most iconic design. Certainly beats the average. LOL!
