Location
Taken from the hills of Auckland NZ urban, farming, countryside that also looks out towards the coastline.Time
Late afternoon - I stopped the car to take some shots of the coastline and ocean on the other side of the road. As I got out I noticed the field right next to me and this beautiful horse walking towards me. I was fascinated with its markings and colours. A very friendly horse not the least nervous and seemed very curious about my camera. This shot was unplanned and my fascination with the horse meant I was repeatedly clicking which gave me many images to choose from. As always only a few were useful.Lighting
Late afternoon - shooting from the hills around Auckland presents a variety of changing light. Auckland is a narrow land area and East and West are able to be viewed from a high vantage point and the light and sky are changing in both directions giving multiple choices.Equipment
My camera is an old Canon 1100D - I was using the 18-55m Lens - No tripod, flash or other accessory.Inspiration
The personality of the horse. I love taking photos of horses but this one was definitely special.Editing
Yes - a little cropping and used a soft blur to highlight the horse from the background. In my camera bag
75-300m ; 18-55m; 50mm; and a Macro LensFeedback
Not really experienced enough to give advice, except always have you camera with you and take notice of all your surroundings not just the one you set out to capture. My shots of the coastline were unimpressive compared with this one.
