Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my backyard in Charleston, South Carolina. Although I’m still learning about the fundamentals of photography, I’m glad I got the chance to take his photo.

Time

I had been sitting outside in the cold in the wee hours of the morning in mid January to capture this photo.

Lighting

The moon actually gave me some great natural lighting. It was pretty luminous!

Equipment

This was shot with a Coolpix B500 on a tripod. There was no special lens or lighting used.

Inspiration

I love shooting nature. Since there was a natural occurrence happening I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try and get something nice. I absolutely love space photography, and this seemed like a nice start to trying my hand at that.

Editing

Since this was digital, the only thing I did was brighten it up just a bit, nothing too much. It was a nice photo to start with and I felt if I did anything more, I would lose what I captured.

In my camera bag

In my bag are the essentials. I have of course my Coolpix B500, extra batteries, extra memory cards, a lens cloth, and I always carry my tripod.

Feedback

The only advice I can offer is to keep trying, keep at it. Do not lose hope, it might take all day of taking pictures, but if you get even one good shot, it was all worth it. Do what you love. It took me having to sit for hours in the cold to get even just a few good shots of the moon. So don’t give up.
