Location
the pictures was taken along the Chicago River in downtown Chicago. I set up near a river bridge used for cars and the elevated computer train with the lights of the city in the background.Time
It was about 7:00 pm. Temperatures were dropping fast, down into the low 20’s, with a stiff breeze.Lighting
I was focused on trying to take the picture while a train moved across the bridge. The blue-lighted building in the background makes the shot along with the reflection in the river.Equipment
Canon camera. No Tripod or flash. I was able to stabilize my camera on a cement planter above the river.Inspiration
I believe there are 26 bridges that traverse the Chicago River. Each gives a unique view into city life. The inclusion of the elevated train (The Chicago L) also adds to the image.Editing
Very little. iphone editorIn my camera bag
I like to have two lenses. Standard 135 mm and a 300 mm Zoom.Feedback
Wear warm gloves and expect the worse. Night photography in the city in the dead of winter can be brutal. Wind, snow, ice, all makes things difficult, but preparation and patience will win out!
