The Orlando Wetlands Park is actually a water reclamation project — a man-made swamp area that uses native flora to purify reclaimed water before returning it to the local water basin. The park is made up of individual cells separated by berms with paths atop that allow walking and bicycling.

Many native species — birds, reptiles and mammals — call the park home, and it's a great place to see herons, egrets, anhingas, eagles, hawks, turtles and alligators up close and without fences. It's also a photographer's dream.

This tree was growing by itself at the water's edge in one of the cells. It begged to be photographed.
