This was shot at the Caney Creek Cowboy Church in New Caney, TXTime
After the last Sunday church service, the Caney Creek Cowboy Church allows the youth to partake in some bull riding, mutton bustin' and calf roping.Lighting
It was a bright and sunny day, perfect for action shots (in my opinion)Equipment
This picture was shot when I first started doing photography. There are some technical aspects that are wrong with the image (as per my standards now) but it was still a fun experience. The camera I was a Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm kit lens.Inspiration
I adore action shots, There is something special about freezing the action and getting a dramatic look.Editing
I did crop the picture in very tightly since it was shot with a kit lens. I brought out some of the contrast and colors to make the image a bit more vibrant. In my camera bag
Now I use a Canon Rebel EOS T6 with an 18-55mm kit lens, 420-800mm Optika lens & a Tamron 0-300mm lens. I'm slowly rebuilding my gear list after taking a 6 year hiatus from photography. I have more equipment like filters, off camera flashes etc but the gear I listed is what I use on a daily basis.Feedback
If you are just starting out in photography, take lots of pictures. It helps to have multiple shots so when you go culling through what you captured, you will have more choices between pictures with different focus points. Make sure you have your shutter speed above 600 to get better freezing action in your shot with less motion blurring. Most importantly, just get out there and play with your settings to see what works best for you and your lighting conditions!
