Thanks, I’m quite happy with the way this shot turned out. We’re fine where I live, but there are still many fires around with helicopters flying over. We’re getting rain soon and it should all be over for another year.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken after some rain in my back yard.

Time

From memory I think it was in the morning around 10.00am in Spring.

Lighting

The morning sun was on my back so was quite lucky with plenty of bright light.

Equipment

I used my Canon 100D SLR with a Canon 60mm macro lens. No flash or tripod was used.

Inspiration

When I saw this little beetle it looked rather unusual especially it’s eyes.

Editing

I used just a little cropping on my camera which most SLR cameras have.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Canon 100D with a Canon 60mm macro lens and my main camera is a Canon 80D with a 18-135. I also carry a Neewer external flash and tripod.

Feedback

I guess you’d ideally need a macro lens and patients. Like with most things practice makes perfect. Also definitely use a defuser on your flash.
