Behind The Lens

Location

Kakadu National Park. Rediscovered in 1973, it was thought extinct having not been seen for 120 years. It spends it's year long life on one or two pityrodia bushes in a very small area of the world.

Time

By the time I found one it was nearly noon. Probably being the only chance I'll ever see one, that's what I had to work with.

Lighting

Not so much about Lighting but time of day. Pro Tip - Don't take you wife hunting for Grasshoppers in the middle of a really hot day :-).

Equipment

Canon 7d MkII, 18-135mm Kit lens,

Inspiration

The unique opportunity to actually find and take a photo of an extremely rare and hard to find species.

Editing

I added a bit of vignetting and sharpening apart from that it's as shot

In my camera bag

Canon 7D MK II Canon 100-400,Canon 18-135, Canon 10-18mm Monfroto Tripod ND filters Polarising filter spare batteries , cleaning cloth etc.

Feedback

If possible gain some local knowledge to help you narrow down your search Be very patient, take plenty of water. Leave your wife at home :-)
