The dome was built originally to house and celebrate the beginning of third millennium and house the millennium experience.
Back in 2000 when it opened on the 1st January it was ninth largest building in the world by usable volume.

Built on the Greenwich Peninsula it's more commonly known now as the o2 arena, the whole project cost a staggering £789 million £1.25 million in 2018 pounds.

The structure is built of steel and tensioned fabric by BuroHappoid Engineering and was awarded the MacRobert award by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
