Behind The Lens

Location

In Lisbon, close to Cruz Quebrada Beach.

Time

This place is one of my favorite places to photograph the sunset. I live a few hundred meters away and like to walk by the sea at the end of the day. I have fabulous photos of this place, but on this day, the explosion of warm colors and the reflection of the sun on the wet sands gave this moment a special charm.

Lighting

The combination of time, sunset light and low tide in the Atlantic Ocean allowed the pillars of the stilt pier to stand out from the landscape and give this mysterious aspect to the landscape.

Equipment

The camera: Fujifilm X-T2 with lens XF18-55 Tripod Manfrotto MVK502055X Filter UV

Inspiration

I am passionate about sunset landscapes and especially the light of Lisbon during the winter season. On this day, with the low clouds covering part of the sky, I found the ingredients that can make another seemingly normal end of the day an absolutely spectacular afternoon for any photographer looking for the perfect sunset.

Editing

No post-production used.

In my camera bag

I usually carry 4 lenses, 2 zoom for short and long distances and 2 prime for short and medium distances. I always bring ND filters and spare batteries as well as covers to protect from possible rain. This is the normal kit that I adapt according to the purpose of the day.

Feedback

My advice to lovers of sunset photography is simple: always be prepared for a good opportunity and, especially for sunset, don't give up until 45 minutes after the sun has lowered the horizon. It is during this period that the best surprises arise.
