HOMELESS IN MILWAUKEE
When I came across this site, I thought it was empty or abandoned. My hope was that one of the missions had picked up whoever it was. Much to my surprise, an individual popped up on their knees and prayed. I am not sure what for, but I can only assume some warmth and to wake in the morning. (It was 32 degrees outside when I was taken the picture.)
As the individual finished praying, I approached and tried talking to the person, but they were not interested. Instead, they covered from toe to head with the makeshift bed.
The picture below does not do what I saw justice, as the person was literally shaking inside. As I sit here writing this, I wonder if the person will be alive tomorrow.
Hard to believe in the year 2018, nearly 2019, that we still have individuals living on the street. It would be one thing if it was warm, but river adjacent to the person was freezing over. How can something like this happen in the USA? There is so much wealth and prosperity here, yet there are people are living under bridges, in boxes and any other place they can just to stay warm. I just do not know what to say, other why?
