A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity for some amazing photos, but I knew I would only have a short gap of opportunity to take photos, 30 minutes. Not again! Now, I carry a camera with me nearly everywhere I go and it paid off big time yesterday. Amazing how many photos you can take in 60 minutes.
This gracious bird, an American White Pelican with wing spans reaching 8 feet (2.43 M), soars above Fox River in Appleton, WI. Unlike the Brown Pelican, that we typically think of, that dives for it food from the sky, this bird catches it nearly 4 pounds (or 1.81 kg) of fish each day while swimming.
