Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in Witbank, Mpumalanga South Africa.

Time

It was 16:00 South African time.

Lighting

Lighting wise nothing special but the weather condition came to the rescue. The storm was about to approach, so it gave this spooky, intense, dark feeling, especially with the clouds.

Equipment

This shot was simply taken with my iphone 8 and no other equipment involved.

Inspiration

For me what caught my eye was those weeds on the foreground, the spooky sky and the smoke that comes from the station chimneys.

Editing

As the iphone doesnt take raw photos, the picture was beautiful in its originality. On post I just enhanced a bit on the contrast and sharpness. This was to bring out the details of the picture.

In my camera bag

For now I cannot afford to buy myself extra lense, I still have my kit lenses. My 18-55mm lense and my 75-300mm.

Feedback

My main weapon in what makes good picture is to always intergrate clouds in my photos. The light in between is not usually my favourite, but rather the morning light before sunrise and on it. The light before sunset and the actual sunset is magic. All in all I can say is patience and great timing weather conditions wise. For instance I took this photograph because I saw the light perfectly balanced and storm was about to approach. It gave me this crunchy, spooky and intense feel.
