In late spring each year, the goldfinches migrate back to our cabin high in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia. These aerial masters can become quite quarrelsome, especially when a bounty of thistle is at stake. Capturing these birds in flight is challenging, due to the birds' erratic flight and speed, and also depth of field limitations inherent in camera equipment.
