Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At 900 meters above sea level on a clear, starry night.

Time

I remember it was around 10 p.m., my girlfriend and I had left the restaurant. Actually we just wanted to stretch our feet again, when we walked a few meters and the lights of the hotel were getting dimmer, we had a great view of the Milky Way. So it was quickly back to the hotel, got the camera and that's it.

Lighting

I've seen a similar photo on the internet before. I found it interesting to play with the flashlight, so I equipped my girlfriend with a flashlight and found the right angle to bring the photo into the scene as it is.

Equipment

My Sony A6000 with the kit lens 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS was used for this shot. No other equipment was necessary

Inspiration

Since there was nothing to be found in this place but foreground, I remembered a similar photo. Without a nice foreground the photo would have looked boring, so the girlfriend was given the task of holding a flashlight in the air.

Editing

only the deep tones were highlighted and the dark tones edited

In my camera bag

I currently have the Sony Alpha 7 III, for this I use 2 lenses, the Samyang 85mm 1.4 (great for bright situations) and the Tele 70-300mm from Sony (for objects in the distance). As a wide angle I use the kit 16-50mm and the Samyang 12mm with the Sony A6000 (light and always within reach).

Feedback

Such an image is usually successful in areas where light pollution is not as high, i.e. H. In darker areas far from cities. You should also watch the weather and it is ideal if you put something in the foreground as a little eye catcher
