This is amazing! Im always trying to make my tree shots look good but I don't feel like I've accomplished that. Hey if you have time ever, do you have any tips on photographing trees that you would be okay with sharing?

Behind The Lens

Location

My husband and I always go to a local Christmas tree farm and cut our tree down every year. Before we leave for the farm my husband always makes hot chocolate to have in the car once we pick out our tree. This year was no different except I took my Nikon D5300 with me. I always capture the day with my iPhone but thought today would be the perfect day to take it. It was cold and the snow had just fallen the night before but the sun was out. I remember going back for my lens and on the way back saw this grove of Christmas trees that we so beautiful and untouched except for the snow I just had to take a picture to them.

Time

Was late afternoon, early evening.

Lighting

I just thought that the light was perfect for the shot. It gave it this wintery feel.

Equipment

Nikon D5300

Inspiration

Just the way the trees were standing there and how the snow laid upon the branches. I was caught up in the moment, like we are all during that time of year. To find that one special tree that we can adorn with all our special ornaments.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

When I took the picture it was my Nikon D5300 and a few lens that I had purchased. Now a days it is my Nikon Z6, 24-70mm lens, Macro stacking lens, the f-mount and my other lens which also includes a zoom lens.

Feedback

I feel that you need to go with your gut. There are so many pictures that I took that day that I felt did not come out but there were also a lot of them that did and this being one of them. I almost deleted it thinking that it was not that great but something in my head was like no this is a good picture. To me it conveyed everything about the day and looking for the perfect tree. I think it was just how the snow just laid on the branches like a small blanket just enough, as not to take way the true beauty of the tree but to enhance it.
