These potholes (Jettegryte in Norwegian, meaning "Giant's Pot") at Sild, southwest of Risør, Norway. These are the largest in Northern Europe and are in fact popular during the summer to swim in. This one is about five metres wide and six metres deep.
About 10,000 years ago, potholes like this were formed after the ice age, drilled in solid rock underlying a glacier either by water descending down a deep moulin or by gravel rotating in the bed of subglacial meltwater stream.
