Behind The Lens

Location

Crescent Park Moose Jaw Sk. Canada

Time

I was walking through the park, it was early December. The path I was on was near the frozen water, as I looked up I seen the sun peaking through the trees, it was just as the sun was setting. It was the perfect time to look up to this, so I had to take the picture.

Lighting

It was all natural lighting, it was at the time of the day that photographers call the Golden hour.

Equipment

Nikon D7200 with a Sigma 10-20mm 1:3.5 lens. No tripod.

Inspiration

It was nearing Christmas, and this spot looked so nice the way the sun was breaking over the edge of the stairs and between the trees. And with the fresh snow it look like a a Christmas card. It worked.

Editing

I am not very good at editing so I can’t really tell you what I did, however, I wanted it to look more like a painting, and I brought up the high lights around the sun. I just played with it, until I got something I thought looked good.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Nikon D7200 with three lens, telephoto (55-300mm), wide (10-20mm), and a standard 50mm. I some times change out my 55-300 with my Nikon 85mm. I love to take portraits, and when combining portraits with scenic shots, I like using the wide angle lens. My Sigma 10-20mm has become one of my favourite lens to shoot with.
