Behind The Lens

Location

At the Hall of Flame in Phoenix, AZ. It's the largest collection of firefighting apparatus in the United States.

Time

Mid morning on a weekday. Less crowded on weekdays.

Lighting

I believe I used just the camera's builtin flash.

Equipment

Nikon 3100, handheld, in camera flash, and an 18-55 Nikon lens.

Inspiration

It's a huge fire engine. I liked the color, white and the long lines of its design. The ornate trip also caught my attention.

Editing

A little in Photoshop Elements 12. Slight cropping and color correction to brighten the image

In my camera bag

Now, I use a Nikon 5300 camera body, and typically have a Tamron 18-270mm zoom lens, a Nikon 18-55mm lens and a Nikon 18-200mm. An external flash lens cleaning clothes, spare batteries and spare SD cards. Also, a remote shutter release.

Feedback

Take a few test pictures, get the exposure right and then take more pictures than you think you'll need. Take different angles and close-up pics as well.
