Resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno)⠀

This incredibly beautiful bird is blending so perfectly with its environment that it can be in a tree right in front of you and you will still miss it. When perched it will sit still and only slowly move its head around to assess its surroundings, and its gorgeous long tail feathers will sway with the wind, as if part of a plant.⠀

It is when in flight you have the best chance to follow it to its next perch where you can observe it in all its glory. Often it will take to the wings from its perch to pick a fruit , and then back to its perch as seen here.⠀
