Location
This photo was taken at a lion park just outside Vrede in the Freestate.Time
This photo was taken in the mid morning. I didn't plan on finding the herd at all. In the passing momentum, I managed to get the shot, not even sure if it was in focus.Lighting
The lighting was all natural. Even though the sun was already blazing from early morning, I was remarkably lucky to dodge a glare on my lense while taking this shot.Equipment
For this photo I used a Nikon D3100. With a 55mm zoom lense. To be honest, I wasn't planning to take any photo's that day. It was just a casual day out.Inspiration
Because of my full time career, I don't get the chance to go away often. The park was about an hours drive, and purely to just get out and enjoy the grass lands for the day. The moment my eye caught the herd just meters away, I grabbed my camera and had to capture their calmness to nature.Editing
I didn't do further processing. I only viewed the photo about a week later. I was very surprised to see the quality. Looking back on it, I feel honoured to have been part of that moment. In my camera bag
I usually take the basics. Depending on the outing, I might take a tripod & extra zoom lens. I take photo's for fun & relaxation. You'll notice that most of my gallery exists out of nature photo's.Feedback
I have always felt that a photo in nature should never be forced or even be considered work. Take in your surroundings, calm your soul and let nature reveal its beauty when the moment is right. That moment will take your breath away.
